What it is: Sweet flag (Acorus calamus) is a perennial wetland herb with a clean, slightly bitter aromatic rhizome. It has been recorded among Chinese aromatic plants since the pre-Qin period. How to use & scenes: Dried rhizome slices are used in sachets, herbal pillows, and traditional incense blends; living plants suit pond edges and damp garden corners. Craft: Rhizomes are harvested in autumn, washed, sliced, and shade-dried or gently dried at low temperature to keep the bitter-sweet scent. Cultural meaning: Sweet flag is tied to riverside customs and early summer traditions in China, representing a quiet, grounded wetland herb.

Healthy rhizomes are harvested in autumn, cleaned of soil and fibrous roots, washed, and sliced thinly. The slices are shade-dried in a ventilated, cool place or gently dried at low temperature to protect the clean, bitter aroma. After drying, fine debris is sifted out, and the slices are stored sealed and away from light.
Sweet flag grows in river and lake wetlands and was used as an aromatic herb as early as the pre-Qin period. Its clean, bitter rhizome scent is associated with early summer riverside customs, symbolizing a quiet, grounded wetland plant.
Dried slices are packed in sealed, moisture-resistant bags and shipped by standard international post or courier. Live plants are only shipped where local plant-import rules allow.
Dried plant material is generally treated as an herb, but some countries restrict live plants or soil. Check your local import rules before ordering live specimens.
Keep dried slices sealed, cool, and dry. For live plants, keep roots in shallow water or consistently moist soil with partial sun.
Dried rhizome slices are cut thin, roughly 2–4 mm, and the exact size and color may vary slightly by harvest batch.
